Fiat Kontiki camper

We were approached by the owner of the Kontiki camper when they were confronted with a lot of welding repairs to pass the MOT, and they wondered if we would take on the work.

In the pictures you will see that previous efforts had only made the rot worse and that in both cases were the offside and nearside doors finish and the outer and inner sill stop, the whole area under that door was rotten, and had extensive corrosion, as well as the inner sill frame had not been replaced, and only the outer skins were welded back in previously.

We removed the previous works on the off and n/s and repaired the inner sill, frame and outer sill, and undersealed the whole area after spraying it with a zinc based primer.

At the front next to the sub frame mount (Carrying the suspension and steering) we found a lot of over plating, and decided to remove as much as we could, and again discovered the inner box frame had not been repaired, on either the n/s or off side, which the sub frame mounted off.

We again re-built the box frame, inner sill and outer sill on the off and n/s side, and sprayed with zinc primer and underseal.

The client is coming back to have the rest done in late autumn when we can remove the rest of the over plating and install a new frame and inner and outer sills.
